Device #recommendations?
My #research team is going to be conducting field #surveys at busy intersections and we need to be able to show short videos on a #tablet. Surely there are some wizards out here who've done similar and can recommend sturdy, super-bright, low-cost tablets that'll get the job done?
(the AI-generated "best bright tablets for outdoor use" reviews are what you might expect from AI generated reviews)
Thanks in advance!
@DrTCombs Usually cheap and bright screen don’t overlap. They do make tablet sun shades/hoods that might help.
@mcg I hadn't thought about that. We could invest in a couple of umbrellas...
@DrTCombs Construction inspectors generally use iPads and Surface tablets, also rugged tablets from DT Research. I doubt any of these are cheap options, unfortunately. Could you access the NC State University lending library? https://www.lib.ncsu.edu/devices
@DrTCombs I'd have to look into it more to be sure, but it might be cheaper to get some external displays and have them connect to phones. Assuming everyone already has a phone and it can play the videos.
It's not brightness that you need so much as a non-reflective screen, called a matte screen
These are available in some cheap laptops, but I have not seen a tablet with one
Stick on anti glare filters do not work outdoors, FYI
@DrTCombs the default recommendation for cheap tablet is a Kindle Fire, I imagine that should get the job done https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BX7FV5L?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=517670024386&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9951900962629093977&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9008463&hvtargid=kwd-297715908713&ref=pd_sl_61z5c2wd1i_e
