TL;DR: best simple video editing software for windows?

Microsoft is breaking [me]. Any for simple for windows? Emphasis on simple. I'll happily pay for something that works well and doesn't presume I know what I'm doing.

Thanks in advance!

@DrTCombs @video I recommend OpenShot. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but most people don’t need them openshot.org/

@DrTCombs @video for the full Luxe experience it’s worth paying for Premiere with the academic discount

I think ShotCut is the right balance of simplicity and power. It's the best one I've used. https://www.shotcut.org/

@DrTCombs @video I’m a Mac + iMovie user, but there are several decent looking options here: windowscentral.com/best-free-v

I trust that site - and two of the options are open source, so clearly not just an ad presenting as a recommendation.

@DrTCombs @video personally I'd recommend Openshot - extremely simple and usable, also open source.

@DrTCombs I installed Clipchamp (via Microsoft) to make a Very Basic Video. It was easy enough to figure out, but OMG the SPAMMY SPAM SPAM. (I guess my baseline is don't send me ANY $#@# emails I didn't ask for.)

@DrTCombs @video maybe Adobe Rush? or Davinci Resolve? Davinci is going to have a lot of bells and whistles, but you don't have to use them. Might still be a bit of a step learning curve. Rush has mobile apps and desktop, and should be much more beginner friendly. I'm not sure if Rush on desktop is free. At a minimum, they push you towards subscribing.

@DrTCombs @video @blakmarkit Camtasia is straightforward (for video editing software) and has great short video tutorials.
