Travelling always gives you a fresh perspective. A few thoughts now I've been back home for a bit:

- the simplicity of contactless payments and Opal caps. Having to do sums to compare a range of ticket options and zones is a pain.
- our train info displays are better than many
- Sydney loves pointless announcements. No smoking, no spitting, take your rubbish. Do we really need it?
- Our buses are a bit crap. Tiny seats, loud, no displays. I loved the efficiency of boarding from 4 doors.
- the manually operated little ramps for ferries are kinda slow.

Being a visitor makes you appreciate good wayfinding, simple ticketing, good frequencies. Integration into Google/Apple Maps should also be a priority. Visitors don't need another app.

Finally - the hot food on the Canberra train is better than what I got on the French TGV!

@Sydney_Stations Same! There are some things we don't appreciate enough, like Opal, and delay information for trains is actually better than many places.

Travelling in countries where most train announcements are not translated makes it obvious that most are unnecessary.
