I have been cycling since 2014 (after raising boys). Lately, I have found my motivation lacking.
Following cyclists on mastodon has inspired me to ride more for transportation. I don't have the money for a cargo bike yet but can do smaller errands.
Yesterday, I rode to get some local honey.
Today I rode to get some produce and chocolate (it was BOGO!)
I live in suburbia so I doubt I will ever be car-free but I can reduce my car rides.

If 50 people travel in an electric bus, the emission will be 11 times less than if they travel by electric car – and 36 times less than if they travel by a fossil-fueled car. vasttrafik.se/en/statistics/

This afternoon I walked the community path from #mbta Davis to Alewife to check out the damage. I started taking photos when I reached signs for the Alewife -> Davis shuttle buses. Link to album with descriptive comments: photos.app.goo.gl/bUFFstJ6Cz3U

Loaded up the Bullitt for Supermarket Streetsweep, an annual food drive/alleycat style race to benefit the SF Marin Food Bank. I’ve done it before on a normal bike but this was my first year with a cargo bike. My goal was to bring in at least 500lbs, and I surpassed that with 800+lbs collected over four trips. The bike did great, no issues. If you ever have a chance to participate in SMSW or a similar Cranksgiving type event I highly recommend it.

Ever since I've focused on Mastodon over Twitter, the one major thing I've said over and over again that was missing (but I was sure was coming) was a Mastodon version of Nuzzel or Tweetshelf. A tool to find what news links your followers are sharing.

And... @decius has just built one! Just released today, so may be buggy, but already looks amazing and INCREDIBLY useful.

Celebrating the new Brattle & Garden (and all the people who made them happen) in Cambridge Common

Every new deserves a party with a jazz band. Thanks to everyone for throwing this one

It’s especially frustrating to see someone with a “Watch for Bikes” sticker on their car refusing to leash their dog, because it suggests they are at least familiar with the concept of making concessions to the safety and comfort of others with whom they share a public space.

Reminder of tomorrow's celebration ride for new Brattle and Garden Street bike lanes in , 11AM at Cambridge Common Park. RSVP requested for refreshments planning. facebook.com/events/s/garden-a

We'll be there, with a limited number of Girl Scout cookies for sale. Just look for the cookieshark:

The lowest ever recorded temperature in the US was hit today in Mount Washington, New Hampshire windchill of -78°C (-108°F)! It even *looks* cold!

“The MBTA reports Alewife station is closed ‘due to an auto accident with the building structure.’”
We need like 200 more “autos” to have an “accident with the building structure," and kill it dead.

Prefer instant gratification? Head for the lobby of the Theater in Davis Square this afternoon.

Discovering that a) i posted a broken link, and b) my new server doesn't support the edit feature yet. This is all suboptimal.
