My kid is doing a literal happy dance about the news of an upcoming ‘Frozen III,’ but dang… where’s our ‘Moana II,’ Disney? deadline.com/2023/02/frozen-to

People make social media work. But this place is glitchier than the electric panel of a 1970’s British car.

I kid because I love… but telling users of another site that’s glitching that they should come to Mastodon is just a little bit funny, right?

You can still use the schedule button to send tweets - just schedule it for 1 minute from now & it will still work. But better yet - move your coolio content here ❤️

Welcome back to a bunch of people who started accounts on Mastodon in November then slunk back to Twitter hoping things wouldn't get worse.

Take my advice and just stay here next time! Uninstall the Twitter mobile app and install either Tusky (android) or Ivory (iOS) and start following people here. You won't need to go back!

I won't lie and say the transition is *painless*... it takes like... 72 hours and some clicking to get set up and used to it?

There's a hearing on Cambridge's proposed amendments to the Affordable Housing Overlay, someone's livetweeting it on twitter: twitter.com/forevertheless/sta

Three of these four factors (speed, lanes, and bike facilities) probably covary to some degree.

But if i'm right, a community that committed to systematically reducing capacity by eliminating lanes and adding bike facilities would also see a disproportionate reduction in nighttime fatalities. Something to watch.

Note: I have not looked at the actual report. So, take what i'm going to say with a big chunky grain of salt.

This report goes to poor lighting as the cause for nighttime crashes. I believe (and cannot prove, just vibes) that another contributor to disproportionate nighttime ped & bike fatalities is the relatively empty roads designed for peak-period volumes that enable speeding to a degree that daytime congestion prevents.

A study of 26 people on bikes killed in LA County found some commonalities:

*speeds exceeding 35 miles per hour (38% of cases),
*multiple travel lanes for cars (77%),
*no bike facilities (85%), and
*nighttime (54%).

Also, coincidence or intentional that throughout the book, the animals can verbally express their thoughts with words only while riding a bicycle?

Sometimes feels like everyone reacts to bicycles like the chicken from “Duck On A Bike”

1. Affordable housing project needs waiver because it's too tall to be built by right.
2. Neighbors fight the project and successfully kill it.
3. Council says ok, let's allow taller affordable housing so this can be built without waiver.
4. Same neighbors say that instead of doing that, we need "a discussion of barriers that exist for projects that didn’t go through."

Yes, that last one is a literal quote. These people are fucking assholes.

More strange Mastodon reporting. This time from @thurrott, who claims "I’ve been using Mastodon since December, but the interaction there is almost non-existent compared to Twitter."

Dude, you follow 22 people. Try following more people. The "non-existent" interaction is *up to you*.

I've found WAY MORE interactions and engagement here than I ever had on Twitter. Plus fewer death threats.

rewatching 30 Rock again, and i need to talk about it:

*Guest stars! My god, not only such a great roster, but most of them so so perfectly written

*Future stars popping up: Aubrey Plaza, Adrienne C Moore, Titus Burgess, Hannibal Buress

*Wish they hadn't ditched the Season 1 Rachel-Dratch-random-appearance-in-every-episode

*Tracy getting hit by a cab S7E7 sucks

Still stewing over this whole deal. I get that a big chunk of repair cost is likely restoring the atrium glass roof, but damn, that garage is literally rotting, and the MBTA just keeps throwing money at shoring it up. When is it not only good urban planning, but good cash flow management, to put it on the joint-development fast-track?

And @inliuofjoan asks a great question - is this closure moving up any SGR work that was planned for later shutdown periods?

The Mastodon Bump Is Now a Slump wired.com/story/the-mastodon-b Another way to look at this would be “Why is Mastodon’s 30-day retention rate so vastly higher than the category average of 2.8%?” statista.com/statistics/259329

NBC10 just reported that they’re partially reopening the Alewife garage tomorrow, but still not running any trains? What? WHAT?
