Metro #Vancouver's #SkyTrain network is now the 4th largest subway/metro system in North America by passenger ridership.
This puts the system behind NYC, Montreal, and Toronto, but ahead of other stories metro systems in DC, Chicago, and Boston.

I think it's worth stating that you can hate cars in an urbanist sense and love cars in a gearhead sense and those thoughts are compatible.
I think not understanding this is potentially misunderstanding the goals of urbanists and possibly buying into the corpo idea that anything bad in the world is the result of the decisions of individuals and not corporations.
The goal of Urbanists is to enable transit methods that rely less on the automobile given that alternatives such as public transit, biking, etc. are more efficient and just not well implemented in cities. Any urbanist worth their salt isn't trying to trying to wipe cars completely off the face of the earth, even if we tout around sayings like "fuck cars". The goal is the change of the system, the big scale stuff, not taking away individual choice.
In a world where commuters have access to non-car options that they don't currently, the nature of using a car will be more oriented towards car enthusiasts. I mean think about it: if people don't have to use a car to get around then the people who are using a car are more likely to be a car person. There will be less traffic which means more enjoyable roads to drive on and less road maintenance.
So what I'm saying is that if you love cars, you should hate cars too.

greater news, weird new skin discoloration with irregular edge just dropped… off my leg in the shower it seems. I really need reading glasses.

In other West Cambridge news, did you know that the new Huron Ave cycletrack (Fresh Pond to the golf course parking lot) is under construction? Me neither!
Like most of the curbs have been set. Look at those we-design-for-you chamfers.

Also, I’m leaving effusively kind comments on peoples’ FB and LinkedIn posts, wth old Darren

Direct action scores a minor victory. Still hoping for the big win here.
Do you know the only place that makes death kind of administratively easy? The Social Security Administration (at least in my experience).
Also, there's an Elaine-Benes style calculation that you must do, to decide if something is cert-worthy. You'll never have enough official death certificates, and seemingly everyone 'needs' one. Do I REALLY need MY name on the T-mobile family account right now?
I shared this privately before, but I just got the okay to share it in public. The Bluegrass Archive is online with a website and everything. This is a MASSIVE trove of legal live #bluegrass recordings from earliest days right up to now, which you can download and listen to for free. It is one of the greatest achievements of the fan-driven #music archiving community I've ever seen. I contributed a small number of filesets out of the thousands here. #music

Bikes and stuff. Widow, dad, taking it bird-by-bird.
