On a pure smiles-from-afar basis, please remove the "Night" modifier and make Mayor John Chapman happen, Alexandria.
Alexandria VA Mayor Justin Wilson - who just successfully led the charge to get rid of single-family zoning - isn't running for reelection, and goddamn i will miss his newsletter (and him). An absolute top-tier local pol.

@gendercensus i'm in a cycling group that is for women and nonbinary people and it is effin AWESOME. we meet once a month - Femmes & Thems in #Chicago
the welcoming nature of the group appears to have attracted a lot of very like-minded people. everyone i have met there has been really wonderful and i've made new friends as a grown woman.
we do not gate-keep in this group either. it really doesnt matter what people 'look like' or how they 'present' themselves.
and it's been so much fun.

Imagine a world where regular people never had to utter or hear the phrase “you’ll need a variance for that”
Many homeowners like me would love to eviscerate zoning if for no other reason to keep an unelected board of weirdos from ruling over a set of seemingly arbitrary standards over how we can(‘t) use or change our property that have no public purpose https://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-and-analysis/articles/2023/11/30/survey-finds-large-majorities-favor-policies-to-enable-more-housing
Ridership on Boston’s commuter rail lines plummeted when Covid shut things down. By the end of March 2020, it was 10% of what it had been a year before. Now ridership on these lines is back to 90% and rising. But there are differences. Biggest: Weekend travel is 150% of pre-Covid levels. What does this tell us? #Transit can no longer be just a ride to work and back. It must be about all sorts of travel. https://commonwealthbeacon.org/transportation/what-commuter-rail-ridership-gains-mean-for-boston/

OMG, this article is 💯 on point. I can't find who sent it through my feed--but THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I bet I live in the neighborhood that had the most new public transit in Massachusetts in 30 years. And that was an excruciating and almost failed 30 years. And after that, #MBTA tried to cancel our bus service.
Sierra Club tried to stop our Hydro lines; RFKJr tried to stop our windmills. It's all true.
Bikes and stuff. Widow, dad, taking it bird-by-bird.
