Last day of . The kid's biking all the way home on her own for the first time.

We've been practicing for this day for weeks. She knows the rules, knows how to handle her bike, knows to look out for drivers because they're not looking out for her.

We can do this.

If you are out on the roads this afternoon, PLEASE keep your eyes peeled for happy kids about to embark on the best summer of their lives.

Relatedly if anyone feels like checking in on my sanity between 11:30 and noon today it would not be unwarranted.

@DrTCombs Good luck ! I know just how that feels (we lived in the UK and let our kids cycle there before moving to NL).

@DrTCombs did it all go ok? I bike the boy sometimes. 2km, all back roads, but I don’t trust drivers to look out for people on bikes.

@Danwwilson
"It was kinda boring" was the feedback.
I don't trust drivers either. 2mi each way for us, and I usually tag along for most of it

@DrTCombs She will be fine, but I'll be thinking of you. My kid is older and has less challenging roads to cross and I won't let him do it alone yet. His friends that do ride the sidewalk until they are across those roads, but my kid won't do that; he's always learned to bike on the street properly.

@DrTCombs Aww!! She's a big girl now!!

This was the wholesome post I needed to see today!
