I decided to try coming to a complete stop at stop signs on my this morning. It only took 18 seconds for a driver to try and take me out because of it.

and yes, there *is* a bike path next to the road. But there's no way to get to it without hopping the curb...which I'm not doing on a loaded cargo bike.

@DrTCombs And the bike path ends after just one block, right?

@DrTCombs

oof, yeah. bad intersection design if you can't get on and off the bike lane

such mixed feelings seeing bike provisions being made, but so often poorly thought out or integrated

@idlestate this development is chock full of good ideas for pedestrians and bicyclists, badly implemented.

beg buttons that are not accessible from the path, bike paths that just end, bike paths you can't enter, intersections that shoot bicyclists off in obscure directions, zero thought about placement of trash receptacles (meaning they end up in the bike path)...you name it. it's a colossal disappointment.

@DrTCombs That is quite the design flaw. Is there a fix planned?

@Lyle this is the same developer who leaves dumpsters in crosswalks, so I'm not holding my breath.

@DrTCombs
I've been rear-ended on my bike 2x for coming to a full stop at a particular intersection

my cargobike's frame extends over the rear wheel & the collisions were lo speed,no harm

drivers expected me to roll the stop, & intended to do so also, so were looking for cross traffic, not at me.

I run that stop now if I have cars behind me

edit:
more 'bumped' than hit.
drivers were agreeably mortified at their mistake,
in one case I had to spend time with one until they calmed down

@DrTCombs

So bad. Glad you are ok.

When WA worked on getting the law passed for the stop, it was framed as the Safety Stop. It was a helpful message and effective campaign.
