Tech friends - your platforms and tools do not engage. People do.

When you alienate people, or limit how they can engage, your platform changes and glitches only affect the margins.

Social media networks contract because people go elsewhere, or find better things to do. All the SRE in the world won't mean much if people just stop paying attention.

No one will leave twitter and never return because it goes down for an hour or the algo is unconsciously favoring cryptobros.

They will leave twitter because it gets boring, or unrewarding, or their audience has left.

WE HERE are a big part of the reason that people will continue leaving twitter.

@bikepedantic I do half-wonder if Musk's engagement isn't down nearly as much as it seems, it's just that because stats tracking is handled by separate microservices which he either broke or overloaded most of the stats-changing events get dropped so his numbers are incorrectly not going up as much.

Serve him right, honestly, if that's what's driving him.
