I finally subscribed to the porter square n’hood association listserv, which yes, is perhaps a cry for help
@Kevin it’s more just to lurk, and keep a finger on the pulse of what dumb people are talking about, but i expect that I’ll get suckered into engaging at some point.
@bikepedantic stay strong
@bikepedantic Can you give us updates when the drama gets exciting? We had a fun Davis Sq one a few years ago where a real estate agent was claiming Dispensaries we're going to lead to needles on the streets & property value loss. I wonder how much her property value has gone down since Sira Naturals went in?
@bikepedantic Is this Cambridge specific, or the broader Porter area?
@max_in_somer seems like the broader Porter area
@bikepedantic Still not sure if it's a cry for help, but I'm joining you in it either way
@max_in_somer @bikepedantic Huh. I feel like I need a map for this one. How far towards Harvard Square does Greater Porter extend? All the way to Cambridge Common? Or have they ceded that to Harvard?
@rednikki @bikepedantic On the Somerville side, I'm technically in Spring Hill or Wilson Square, though Porter is the closest significant commercial square.
Google maps says Porter is a bit past Roseland all the way through Alewife Brook, but only abutters, which might work for a commercial area but feels wrong for a nbhd.
Cambridge Common at least to me still feels like Harvard
@bikepedantic if you are going on there just to argue with dumb people, then it probably is.
