Fun fact about the bureaucracy of death: Copies of the death certificate, which are necessary for a wide variety of important things like collecting on life insurance policies, take weeks (i'm still waiting!).
But somehow, social security disability payments get magically cut off immediately.
@bikepedantic I remember the first one wasn’t too bad. But amazingly, so many places require originals and not copies. It has been over 20 years since I had to go through that. Sad that it hasn’t gotten any better.
@bikepedantic It might vary by locality but in my hometown it was the funeral director in charge of finalizing the death certificate
We bullied him (he bullied us first) and got it in under 2 weeks
