Knee-jerk impressions re bluesky after less than 24 hours:
*the platform is basically a twitter clone - QTs, algorithm alongside feed, conversations easier to follow
*you can build your own algorithm (which i'm not even going to try)
*the bluecheck discourse enjoyers are there
*very few mere mortals are
*there is an app, you can block people, so... that's a leg up on Post
*not a whole lot of followback action
once they open registration, it could get popular, we'll see.
@bikepedantic I’m enjoying it so far
@Punkaboo i'm bored, but will keep plugging away for a few more days
@bikepedantic I miss old twitter so so much 💔
@bikepedantic There's a big presence in Japan and Brazil (Brazil loves an invite only service), but both in non-English; other than that, I think your impression of being very US-centric is right.
Oh, a few more:
*It seems very US-centric. Maybe that's just a function of my limited view, but certainly as compared to here, seems mostly US.
*Some of the bluechecks seem to be getting bored
*Of all of the real people i knew on twitter on there, most seemed to have made at least a stopover here. Not seeing very many folks who passed on Mastodon but are trying Bluesky as a twitter alt. Pure anecdata, and early days, though.
