@bikepedantic is the traffic Engineer's illusion of control different in the case of self-driving cars?

@bikepedantic For me, at least, what makes these accidents worse than driver-error accidents is centralized control over the software behind them. One engineer screwing up an over-the-wire update could get a bunch of people killed before the fault is isolated. The risk isn't distributed.
