No lifetime bike is ever really complete. But at some point, I decided that every part on my Moots should be made by a different manufacturer, or at least be a different model. After a 15 year wait for a new crank/BB, I have basically achieved that! Specs in the second pic.
@bikepedantic THEY SO ARE (sincerely, someone who spent an hour with a grinder trying to fix a bottom bracket to be more like standard)
My main commuter & touring bike is a 23-year-old hybrid. Started out as a Marin, but I broke the frame when it was a toddler (my fault, not Marin’s).
All parts, still with much life in them, were moved to a used Giant steel frame. In the ensuing years, I think everything but the handlebars, stem, and brake levers have been replaced…generally with whatever the LBS had in stock. The frame has at least another 23 years in it, unless I fūk it up.
@bikepedantic "Small ring SRAM / Big ring Salsa" 😂
@bikepedantic how do you like the TRP Mini V?
@evth like it a lot. As powerful as cantis with road levers, without the finicky setup.
this is by far the stupidest thing i've ever been this proud of
