Tunnel reconstruction really messed with logistics of getting friend to Logan from Red Line Cambridge-

Blue Line? There famously remains no transfer point

Silver? Lol, it’s going to implode like a carbon-fiber sub by tomorrow

Drive her there? I’m far too selfish

Bike? I wish

Got a taxi, and outsourced the problem of getting out of the airport

@bikepedantic I am baffled at why getting *to* the airport should be extra-disastrous (it was already terrible), because the closed tunnel is for returning from the airport.

I plan to take the Terminal-C-shuttle-Blue-Green-Red-#73 this evening, for science. It is absolutely enraging that there's no dedicated lane for shuttle buses and the silver line.

@dr2chase @bikepedantic OMG, a dedicated lane should have existed for years. Failing that, it should be the FIRST measure put in place during the tunnel closure

@bikepedantic 7 minute shuttle to blue line.
13 minute wait for next train, because fuck me.
Mass DOT tunnel work ought to include surcharge to put more trains in service, this is fucking idiotic. Raise my fucking taxes, you fucking cowards!!!!

@bikepedantic Not enough fucking benches at park, and 7 minute wait for a train.

@bikepedantic Looks like trains are on a 13 minute spacing because we live in heck.

@bikepedantic Supposedly it is actually possible to bike to the airport, someone my wife knows BlueBiked there. No idea how...

@itamarst @bikepedantic Charlestown to Chelsea to East Boston, then along the greenway to transportation way, which goes under the interstate to connect to terminal a’s bike parking. Google says 42 minutes from Porter Square, 8 miles. The route is not pleasant.

@itamarst @bikepedantic I guess Boston Cyclists Union in 2016 has very different standards than I do, because they described most of the route as fine; I’m just spoiled by modern Cambridge, and most of the trip doesn’t measure up.

@crschmidt @bikepedantic I will definitely not bike on routes I used to be willing to bike on when I was younger and, yeah, likely less spoiled.

@crschmidt @itamarst @bikepedantic I've looked into it a few times and every time have decided its not worth it, and I'm definitely more willing than most to bike through not great

@crschmidt @itamarst @bikepedantic in the summer, there is some sort of free boat between Charlestown and East Boston but I cannot find out any information other than what's on this site bostonlaunchcompany.com/

@inliuofjoan @crschmidt @itamarst @bikepedantic there’s a boat from Eastie to the downtown wharfs currently. I haven’t heard of a Charlestown one.

@biknmusicmama @crschmidt @itamarst @bikepedantic it's associated with the restaurants, and the restaurants have a sign advertising it, but no timing info given

@bikepedantic red-green-blue really isn't that bad a transfer since the GL is frequent.

And Blue-Blue-Blue (Line-Bikes-Line actually works pretty well especially for Terminal A (walk from the station nearest to Jeffries Point).

@bikepedantic Yeah... so my mom is landing at Logan next week, and my plan to pick her up is Red to Green to Blue to airport shuttle, find her, grab her luggage, then repeat the whole MBTA process in reverse... at 6-something AM on a Sunday morning. :blobfoxmelt:
