Wizards & Caps maybe moving to Potomac Yards has the same stink IMO as Amazon HQ2 to Pentagon City.

This whole National Landing strip (ha) has so so so many advantages, and could/should have been allowed to develop into a proper city without these dumbass megaprojects.

Sorry to get all strongtowns, but we never seem to learn that we should define a proper vision, invest in the fundamentals, and then get out of the way.

Both of these dumb things will crowd out any hope of development that actually would address what the region needs (a big inner-ring high-rises city that’s cheaper and dorkier than dc)

Anyway, congrats to the BID/JBGSmith/econ development triumvirate in charge down there. Bro fives all around.

And no doubt, VDOT will keep those Route 1 traffic signals well-sync’d for Mr. Leonsis.

@bikepedantic Setting aside the terrible economics of taxpayer funds for stadiums, after starting in MD and moving to DC in 1997, seems fitting for both teams to finish the trifecta.

@bikepedantic Do they also undermine school funding by using TIF? That's how Baltimore sold out its kids to Under Armour. (And others on the north side of the harbor.) MD assumes in the state allocations that the city is getting the full local tax base only it gave that money away.

@HayiWena I think there is some limited TIF, but wasn’t part of the Amazon wooing, that was mostly state money
