I used to think of blocked and as death by a thousand paper cuts, but I've realized the more appropriate analogy is Russian Roulette. If you or ride a bike, you never know which time you have to "just go around" is going to be the time that gets you killed.

Not for nothing, this is why I get irate whenever my town treats bike and ped infrastructure obstructions as non-urgent.

@DrTCombs I keep thinking about two boys who suffered life changing injuries crossing a street that had been identified for crossing improvements, but the project had to wait months for funding. I feel like cities need to implement interim safety measures in locations like these. Reduce the speed limit, close one lane in each direction (it was a 4 lane + 2WLTL arterial), etc. Why do pedestrians have to give up their lives to drivers' convenience when we know a situation is unsafe?
