I really do try to believe that most* drivers aren't careless about the lives of others, but rather clueless. That's why I put together videos from my handlebar camera to show, from a bicyclist's perspective, what their driving looks and feels like.

The video here is a sample of dangerous--egregiously dangerous--overtakes by motorists over the course of a year.

*I said most.

@DrTCombs I'd agree on the most; one time I tried aiming the camera backwards (on a commute that included a nasty multilane part) and lots of people (most) were clearly positioning correctly and so early that I didn't know they were doing it. But also, quite a few clueless.

@dr2chase This has been my experience as well. The majority of drivers are still doing ok, giving me space, waiting their turn. And, just like us on bikes, those drivers are trying to navigate infrastructure that's not designed to keep people safe. And they don't always do it well.

The reckless minority is growing though, and it's terrifying.
