Ok buffs. What is this thing we found in our yard?

Context: our neighborhood was built in the 1940s. The area was a Union Army bivouac site during the Civil War. We routinely find random metal things in the yard from the construction of the neighborhood. But this seems a good bit older and more worn. It's almost 4" long.

@DrTCombs It would be nice to have an idea of the size. A ladle? A Campagnolo tool for removing pre-1970 crank bolts?

@DrTCombs Well, that, plus the curved handle (if it is a handle), makes the ladle theory unlikely. I'm guessing cast iron, but I'm not even sure about that.
