There is a digital doppelganger in our HR system who, by nature of not existing, has failed to do any of the required HR trainings for years.

This nonexistent person's digital presence in our HR system shares my name and email address BUT IS NOT ME.

The sheer Dilbertness of this situation is mindboggling.

The problem is amplified when someone is trying to assign a task to the real me and inadvertently assigns it to the fake me, who, again by nature of their nonexistence, does not complete the task, nor do they--again because they do not exist--extend the courtesy of notifying me of the assigned task.

And naturally all of the emails that do come to me come from no-reply addresses

@epicdemiologist Evidently the solution is to change how my name appears in the directory, I've been told.

@DrTCombs Like "Tab Genuineperson Combs", TheRealOne@workplace.com?

@DrTCombs Why not change the fake one to "Tab NOTREAL Combs", Error234343@workplace.com?

@epicdemiologist 🤣

I have closed out my email so as not to accidentally respond with a suggested name change for the suggester.
