@linnefaulk
It's green infrastructure
@DrTCombs It certainly makes right turns more interesting, too.
@JamesK I'll bet it was very interesting for whoever's box truck bent that solar panel.
@DrTCombs Ha!
@DrTCombs If only the block had been placed right on the stop line it would reduce the radius of the corner and slow right turning vehicles more instead of doing that while also sending the signal that your city doesn’t care about people outside vehicles. My city gets these little details wrong so often I think it must be on purpose
@geodarcy
This is 100% on the developer. I'm hopefully they will be read a riot act tomorrow.
@DrTCombs Umm...WTAF...that's just...I mean, that's not a traffic engineer...
That being said, looks like someone has (entirely unsurprisingly) hit the solar panel, so pretty likely the thing has no power now.
@DrTCombs it's like they wanted to keep cars off of the sidewalk? More stuff in the street is great but there's a few wrong ways to do it. 😂
@DrTCombs How in the HELL did they get a traffic engineer to sign off on that?
@epicdemiologist
I doubt they did!
@DrTCombs May I share this with Georgia's State Safety Engineer?
@epicdemiologist
Of course!
@DrTCombs That corner radius is attrocious. Though I suppose the giant concrete cube will discourage sweeping turns.
Wow, it really is VERY carefully placed to exclude wheelchairs!
I could get my teenage sized indoor manual chair through there, but a standard adult size wouldn't fit
They could have moved that thing five or six inches, and wheelchairs would be able to get through. But nooooooooo......
A two wheeled bike with a skilled rider could get through, but not a trike (like older or disabled people often use)
Although if a car is stopped at the line, for most drivers that means their wheel is at the line. The front end of their car is hanging over and 100% blocking the near side of the concrete chunk thingy
If the bike rider wants to turn left, if they go around the other side of the concrete thingy, they will be virtually invisible to the person who car -- who will go ahead and make a right turn, and run over them
@DrTCombs Well, of course they had to put it there in order to get the solar angle. 🙄
