I'm all for getting people out of cars and cars off the roads.
But when a sudden disruption in transportation facilities causes car traffic to "evaporate," we need to look very carefully at whose traffic is evaporating, and at what cost.
@thehomespundays @DrTCombs it's often elective trips. Marginalized communities tend to spend more time daily on necessities, so their trips are more likely to work, school, health care, etc — and are probably getting more onerous while teleworkers & tourists get to stay home.
@DrTCombs I suspect, without any investigation whatsoever, that it would be marginalized communities. I'm pretty confident in that assessment since it would hold to the systemic inequities that are part of the rest of society as well.
