Current sitution in #NorthCarolina, as best I can piece together:
EasternNC: #tornadoes continue to be a threat.
CentralNC: sporadic tornadoes, but the worst mostly seems to have moved north
Western Piedmont/Foothills: major (and I mean potentially catastrophic) #flashflooding is coming your way, even after #Helene moves through and the sun is shining again.
WesternNC: seems like the rain has passed, but OMG the #flooding is the worst in history.
ok y'all. the dogs are sleeping, the skink that was sheltering in our sliding door has moved on (or been eaten by the dogs?), the neighbors are poking around the garden, and the yahoos are running the stop sign with reckless abandon.
so we're back to normal here in #ChapelHillNC, it seems.
Time to put my 'transportation researcher with a deadline' hat back on.

Surreal amount of water being dumped right now (no really logic brain knew it was coming- still shocking)
@DrTCombs Has your kid found the meteorologist who wore a green dress so that she looks like a disembodied head since the dress matched the green screen for the weather? (I'm pretty sure it was intentional and not a blooper, there is maybe a version with her looking like her head is on a cloud?)
@DrTCombs My 26 year old (autistic) spent the night in my closet. It is the only interior room in the house. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My 10 year old is coping with the on-again-off-again tornado warnings by watching youtube videos of meteorology bloopers.
