Is there a more beautiful sight than an above-ground parking garage being demolished?

@bolderbekah I disagree- more capacity in a structure means more cars. Also, the greater revenue from a structure and the higher cost of the structure both add to the switching costs to knock it down for something better
@bikepedantic @bolderbekah (also if it's replacing free spots with paid spots)

I think there's also the flip side of that, on whether demolishing parking garages will make it harder to build a case for also removing surface parking.
@athorn @bikepedantic @bolderbekah yea the core problem is always going to be "curbing overall demand for parking"
I think that reducing the area that parking takes up can reduce demand for cars (and parking) by making densification and wakability easier to implement.
@bikepedantic @bolderbekah I think the question here is "is the garage increasing overall parking capacity in the locality or is it being used as an opportunity to consolidate parking and remove an equivalent number of surface spots"
