Real talk: It is intimidating being a mediocre dad in Cambridge, and that is extra true in a Harvard museum.

Other parents: Detailed conversations with their eager engaged smart kids about science and animals and the world

Me: Trying to stifle a giggle as my milestone-lagging incurious 6.5 year old squats down, pantomiming laying an ostrich egg.

@thefrase I hope so. While she enjoys a good joke, she’s not a real happy-go-lucky kid, and is going to face some foreseeable things growing up that are going to be challenging

@bikepedantic character building, as they say. maybe she’ll be a very funny comedian

@bikepedantic I have an entire Amazon review of a ride-on fire truck that I bought after my kid went to a playground on the "nice" side of town, sat on a community ride on toy, and said "help!" because he didn't know how to make it go. Alas, I cannot locate it right now. The review explained how the toy aided "experiential learning on the science domain" because he'd stand on it to reach stuff on the counter and it would roll back as he reached for stuff.
