@bikepedantic /me, unaware heretofore that aftermarket motors are a thing.

@20002ist oh yeah, there's a variety of kits available to retrofit regular bikes. I've got something called a Swytch that has a front hub motor fitted to my Brompton, it's great.

@bikepedantic I, a failed physics major, am trying to picture the mechanics of such a device and failing miserably.

@20002ist @bikepedantic Swytch sends you a replacement front wheel with an electric motor in the hub, along with a battery pack to mount on the handlebars and a cadence sensor to clip on to the crank. I'm not super handy and was hangry when I did the install, took me an hour to do. 10/10 do recommend

@szeis4cookie @20002ist @bikepedantic I think that's preferable to the other even easier aftermarket option - something like the Rubbee which is basically just a friction drive (motor drives wheel that is put into contact with bike wheel to go zoom).
