Via the Globe's excellent Are We There Yet? newsletter, TIL that there's a bill in the MA legislature to study a red line extension to Arlington malegislature.gov/Bills/193/H3

Also mentioned, a bill filed to study the incredible need for better public transit between Kendall and Longwood.

The newsletter author cites an astronomical 2.7M users of private shuttles serving Longwood, and expresses frustration that the public cannot access that service. Count me, who sadly had to make a metric shit-ton of trips between Cambridge and Longwood over the last year, among them.

@bikepedantic Longwood is one of those stops that demonstrates how desperately we need express service on the D. If we had service that hit just Riverside, one of the Newton stops (probably Newton Center), Reservoir, Longwood, and Park Street I suspect it'd be full most of the time and boost the D's total overall people-moved numbers quite a bit.

Heck, if we had an express service that *only* did Park Street and Longwood for rush hour I suspect it'd be packed.

@bikepedantic "red line extension to Arlington" broke the ossified DC-specific geography etched into my brain folds. Imagining: "This is a red line train to Shady Grove. Next stop, the Village at Shirlington."

@bikepedantic can they study extending Red Line service reliably to Alewife?
