Why anyone with the choice would ever choose driving I-95 over riding the train is beyond me

@bikepedantic I only do the train for work trips, but I only drive for personal. The cost for a family to take Amtrak is ridiculous, and NYC is kind enough to extend free parking to Red Sox fans. No reason to fly under any circumstances.

@bikepedantic I took a train up to Baltimore from NC a few years ago and there’s the particularly beautiful stretch along the Potomac that I can still visualize like it was yesterday

@bikepedantic did exactly that this past summer, it was a lot of fun and it was great to arrive less tire and more relaxed. But we missed our connecting train to New Hampshire and had to take the T to Newburyport instead. Thought about doing it for Thanksgiving but will probably pass because the connections to NH bus or train are not great.

@ClimateJenny @bikepedantic I am so excited for the VRE to come all the way down to Richmond

@szeis4cookie my parents and I are practically refreshing browser windows in anticipation of weekend VRE service @ClimateJenny

The train is lovely. I've taken it a few times but I don't anymore. It comes down to money. If I ride the train it costs about the same as flying and when I arrived in Boston, I'd still need to rent a car because my family is spread from the Back Bay to Rhode Island to Webster. They used to all be in Braintree and I could get there on the T and walk. But now I need a car. I already have a car, but it's in Maryland. If I want the car in Boston I either have to ship it or drive it myself. So, I take I-95 most of the way. And it does suck, but it's gotten MUCH better since they added EZ-Pass.

@bikepedantic because honestly we need a car when we get to the other side. No other reason
