The reason France is in that timezone? Hitler decided it was to be so, and the allies didn't change it back.
Move Spain, France, and the Benelux over to UTC and European timezones basically makes sense.
(And kill DST already)
@bikepedantic That’s nothing: Spain and Macedonia share a time zone, roughly like Boston being on the same time zone as… Denver.
