Finally rode the Met Branch Trail extension, which I worked on back in 2014.

Pleased that the access gate to the concrete pit made it to final, because the workers wanted to be able to access the trail.

So if you ever doubt the widespread demand for access to great active transportation facilities… remind yourself that the concrete pit workers wanted and got an access point off of the Mer Branch Trail.

Bluesky is dealing with big T&S issues that are not unlike those that pop up here...

...But unlike here, absolutely no one trusts Bluesky's motives, and thus, it's pretty open combat. Will be interesting to watch play out.

DYK: The Metrobar Metro car is finally open for sitting in, and it was reserved for a ducking event?

Oh look, here i am fighting the unpopular fight against patrician city councillors trying to equity-wash letting EV owners drape electric cords across sidewalk

I strongly believe that I shouldn’t have to wear special reflective to be the perfect crash victim when biking. I refuse to do it. I have reflective strips on my bags and on my bike, and ride with lights.

Part of it is that when I die from a driver hitting me, I don’t want to look ridiculous. (I’m vain.)
Another big part of it is research (like my last repost) that shows drivers treat people in reflective gear as less human.

The vest won’t save my life.

It’s nice to come back to DC and see the gradual unshittening of 1st St SE (a pet project I didn’t stick around at ddot to see through) continuing. Props to Greg M et al.

Bike-specific ramps up to the Douglass racetrack, parklet benches in the former doublepark row, and ped refuges going in at the DC Waterdrop HQ driveway

TIL that FTA headquarters has some transit bench seating in one of its common areas now.

Three people I know just retired within the last few months are were looking forward to the next phase of life. One was diagnosed with cancer and has 3 months to live. One started forgetting things, was diagnosed with dementia and has less than a year to live and the last person had a heart attack last night and died. Don't take anything for granted.

“I wouldn’t say I miss it, Bob”: 7-11 at S. Capitol and M St SE boarded up for demo and development

#SomervilleMA first neighborhood traffic circle is in but not completed. They're going to put plantings. It's next to an elementary school where the street is too wide and a stop sign is ignored. I'm very excited! twitter.com/SomervilleInfr1/st

Now that I'm here, I need to replicate my twitter experience. I know that handcraft mastodon, sjw mastodon, and fandom mastodon all exist. I haven't found angry urban cyclist mastodon yet though (particularly the cargo bike niche). I hope they're here somewhere!

Florida's #CompleteStreets guidance tells road designers how to translate context into target speeds, including transitions through rural town centers.

It also tells local governments what their built environment should look like.

Good deal, I’d be inquiring if it weren’t on the wrong coast: Bullitt with front hub motor but no battery for $3200 in San Diego CA facebook.com/groups/1839120346

I went for a run over the Douglass bridge at golden hour, and it was a euphoric experience for me.

Twitter may be struggling to court advertisers, keep the site actually running, and prevent users from fleeing to eager competitors — but at least the Taliban likes it. rollingstone.com/politics/poli
