Anyway, congrats to the BID/JBGSmith/econ development triumvirate in charge down there. Bro fives all around.
Sorry to get all strongtowns, but we never seem to learn that we should define a proper vision, invest in the fundamentals, and then get out of the way.
Both of these dumb things will crowd out any hope of development that actually would address what the region needs (a big inner-ring high-rises city that’s cheaper and dorkier than dc)
Yes I’m back. Yes I was just here, and yes I’ll be back for TRB. It’s a ridiculous waste of carbon
"Since the start of the pandemic, fewer people are walking to get around. The 100 most populated metro areas in the U.S. saw a decline in #walking of at least 20% between 2019 and 2022, according to a recent report. But even with this decline, #pedestrian deaths have skyrocketed to the highest they’ve been in over 40 years."
Reasons include working from home, getting packages and food delivered, and fear of getting hit and killed.

John Oliver comes for the freight rail industry, and I am THERE for it.
Particularly since he explicitly says he is "pro-train," and then lays out why the freight rail operators are putting all of us at risk—and standing in the way of high-speed passenger rail.

The correct song to listen to while walking, running, rolling or bicycling to get somewhere is “The Ballad of John Henry.” This is the preferred version. No questions at this time, thank you. https://youtu.be/aj7HonV66mU?si=JtKcUUDnPSO0BNut
They also sold me a set of brake pads to replace these fallen soldiers. Swapping brake pads: 10 minutes. Finding the hydraulic reservoir bolt head after I dropped it in my gravel driveway: 45 minutes.
Bikes and stuff. Widow, dad, taking it bird-by-bird.
So many things are improved by 🦪,🚲, & 🪕.
Just me, very much not my employer. Opting in to be searchable via #tootfinder. #fedi22
