A thing about grieving losing a spouse

People seem to expect that the memories and missing your person is the worst or only part. And that’s obviously fucking hard.

But sometimes harder - and harder to discuss - is the loss of your partner. That partner who complemented you. Took joy in doing the things that you didn’t. Supported you. Etc.

Relearning a new life is really hard.

Alternatively, let’s go shock-and-awe in the BZA and everyone build an extra house in their backyard like these heroes four doors down

Imagine how amazing a space this could be if we converted our private backyards (looking out from my house) into a public park

My personal pick-two-from-below for earbuds:

1. Stays locked in my ear while running
2. Charge last more than an hour
3. Has not been eaten by the dog

On the receiving end of my first attempted dunk QT from a stranger run-in on Bluesky, a nice bit of Twitter nostalgia. Been on mastodon seemingly so long that I’d forgotten how shitty that feels.

Barriers on the dashed lane lines, retune signals in accordance with the traffic analysis the city has probably already done.

And yeah, the angry tattoo parlor can go for two weeks without street parking if the rest of us have to go two weeks without the subway

Could serve as a useful demonstration of the traffic impacts of a permanent Mass Ave 4 build that includes bus lanes.

Starting in six weeks, a combined 33 full-closure Red Lime days in Cambridge in 2024! Gonna start whining now for temporary Mass Ave 4 PBLs and bus lanes during that July two-weeker.

There are no shared micromobility fleets in Camberville (except public docked Bluebikes), but plenty of micromobility devices out and about, and sidewalks are still accessible. Private ownership of micromobility devices should be the policy goal.

My contrarian take: It's good actually that these companies had a good multiyear run and are now flaming out. People who tried them, like them, and use them frequently will buy their own devices.

It is very frustrating that, even in this otherwise-good @verge overview of the past and future of shared micromobility in the wake of Bird's bankruptcy, that there is zero mention of the completely-unresolved issue of blocking sidewalks and rendering them inaccessible. theverge.com/2023/12/21/240109

Well hello! Making my first post here to say, hi, yes, I'm still here, lol. It's been a year since I set up this account & I never did write that #intro post, did I... But with Threads apparently federating I'm hoping to follow more #bikey #bike friends including those formerly on twitter. (Can't quite bring myself to say #BikeTooter... well, there, I guess I just did.)

Anyway—some instances are blocking Threads; World isn't afaik. Did we know each other at 🐦 ? Are you here on Mastodon now? 👋😃

Leaving #Twitter now is like getting toilet trained when you are 10 years old. It's still great news.

Seattle needs to get serious about shared scooter parking, espcially around transit stops. These micromobility companies have had 5+ years to figure out how to not block access, and they haven’t cared enough. Time for stricter regulations, or no permits.

Surprise bonus episode dropping tomorrow, which won't be a surprise to Mastodon users since we're only telling you for now.

If you're not already a Patreon subscriber, sign up for access.

more than ever, i'm incredibly grateful to a lot of people, including some of you on here. had some really lofty holiday card ambitions to express that, and just did not execute on those intentions.
