What are the most important “Missing Links” to complete in the Sydney public transport network ? (The shorter and less expensive to remediate the better)

@walk_sydney

1. Not cheap but we really need a rail connection from Hurstville to Strathfield w interchanges on East Hills and Bankstown lines. Crosstown travel here is woeful. With peak CBD demand softening somewhat since covid and metro west to bring on a lot of capacity, I would do this by routing the Northern line into a tunnel to run Hornsby-Epping-Strathfield-Hurstville. Loads of places to change for CBD service.

2. LR2 extension to Coogee Beach. Should've been done already. Will free up buses from region 9 depots to keep improving crosstown frequencies/relabilities.

3. Pet project of mine...I would love to see a cross harbour ferry service. There's a private company running infrequent trips Manly-WB but I think a sydney ferry running every 30 mins something like: Manly, WB, Taronga Zoo, Double Bay, Cremorne, Milsons Point, Balmain East, Barangaroo would be great. Getting from North to East is still so CBD centric.

4. The B2! Give the 160x bus lanes, fancy stops, yellow paint and route it via Victoria St.

5. Extend the Carlingford LR to epping/Macquarie Park.

Honestly most else could be fixed with improved frequency, reliability and bus priority measures.

@jedsetter @walk_sydney +1 Hurstville to Strathfield, or even Hurstville-Bankstown-Parramatta.

And yeah I'd agree that in general we have a reasonable network, just needs frequency and speed improvements.
