Picking up groceries with an F-150 is like...

...cracking nuts with a sledgehammer or

...making toast with a flamethrower.

6 out of 10 trips are under 5 miles.

Love this ad from the UK.

This is interesting! Bicycles to rule the streets of #Bruges.

This city in #Belgium is taking a new approach to prioritizing bicycle use. On 90 streets, bikes will automatically have priority over cars.

In addition, they're offering residents a €500 subsidy to ditch cars.

What a great idea and story - the way to get more kids affordably into cycling

Some interesting and useful news to prove the benefits of interventions in London.

Proof that traffic and pollution does NOT increase on the boundaries, but in fact benefits all road users.

Time for a hashtag-laden #introduction post, I think.

I'm Dave, a #cartoonist who draws #diagrams on diverse topics. Qualification: 'D' in A-level art.

My specialist subject is #cycling, along with #activetravel and #sustainabletransport. I've written / drawn two books of cycling #cartoons.

Topics: #comedy, #design, #illustration, #bikes, my cat, Mattie Walker, the #outdoors, #sustainability, #climate, #Christian faith (in, I hope, a good way), #railways, signage, coast paths, having a beer.

Why city planning needs diverse perspectives.

Touring possible commuter cycling routes.

What I saw - Smooth pavement. Separate from traffic. Shade. Not too busy. Perfect.

What my female partner saw - Blind corners. No lighting. No escape routes. Too few users. Wouldn’t use this route.

The potential for between providers in the and space is amazing. Incredible things can come out of experts in their field supporting common goals, not trying to outdo each other through all-in-one (but not best-in-class) solutions.

Had a great meeting yesterday with potential partners in the space to see about linking our measurement approaches for certain clients.

Greetings to the #histodons who have already been here for some time; I'm a latecomer refugee, it would seem. #introduction I'm a historian of urban and environmental policy, mostly 20th c. US, wrapping up bicycle history research projects and moving into parking and parking enforcement research. I'm at a teaching-intensive regional public in the American Midwest, and sometimes teach with the Reacting to the Past pedagogy. Shop intern, slow roadie, spirit of gravel.

Since we're into (and I see others here are too 🎉 ) here's a link to the traffic passing the window next to me here on the South Circular (A205) in London.

Now you can see why I care personally as well as professionally!

Hello all! Just saw from @bikepedantic that this place had been set up for mobility talk, and loving the idea of a dedicated instance.

I'm based in London (UK), but I work for a startup based in Leuven (Belgium) called Telraam. We have a multi-modal traffic counting device designed for citizen science, and giving residents and campaigners more opportunities to be engaged and involved with local traffic and mobility plans that affect them.

Looking forward to hear about yr projects
