One of those bike rides home with the kid so terrible that I never want to expose her to the dangers of the American surface transportation system ever again.

@bikepedantic@transportation.social I walk along roads, and cycle, and I am tired of drivers being so sadistic when it comes to cyclists and walkers. There is the notion that petrol cars are awful, but when it comes to intimidation electric and hybrid cars are no less frightening and intimidating. Cyclists and pedestrians should be given more routes, and paths. Too much space is given to car, without thought for pedestrians and cyclists. I'm speaking of roads between villages and between towns. We need more cycle and hiker friendly routes.

I knew a guy who had to counter arguments in a divorce/ custody battle that he was a bad father for transporting his kids on a bike in an American city. Today, it felt like a pretty fucking valid charge.
