@bikepedantic Left my dad's earlier today, putting the downstairs (guest) rooms in order, set their thermostat to 81F, as one does. Outdoor conditions are 92F, dewpoint 75F.
@bikepedantic you don’t have AC?
@geoff_green @bikepedantic Not everyone has AC, Geoff.
@bikepedantic our furnance/heatpump thingy broke in February. We're going to switch to an entirely different system, but evidently these things take a long time and we sweltered through some might hot inside temps before caving and getting a pair of window units. It was rough. I salute you.
@DrTCombs @bikepedantic i was simply asking, Tab!
@bikepedantic brutal. Sorry
@bikepedantic I feel you on this one. Held out for a long time but finally broke down when the 2021 heat wave rolled through the PNW.
I've been using the floor/mobile style with exhaust tube to the window in rentals. Pretty handy and landlords don't gripe about them the way they do window anchored units.
@bikepedantic I want a heat pump so bad!
@Etherealcolburn me toooo. We re just finishing up electrical system overhaul that will allow us to do it in a couple of months
@bikepedantic I had a guy all set to do it 18 months ago, then he couldn’t get a heat pump bc of supply chain blah blah blah, and then I didn’t get around to it last year. We have 27 solar panels on the roof and Nstar credits piling up!
@Etherealcolburn neighbors across the street has a heat pump supply chain debacle. Happy to grit through this summer and hopefully have an easier time of it
@bikepedantic glad to know I’m not the only one…
@bikepedantic If this is a rare occurrence, depending on your preferences & values you may want to try a dehumidifier. 86° can be comfortable - IFF it is dry with some air circulation. But the dehumidifier uses less power than an air conditioner & tends to be cheaper/ useful in more circumstances.
