Summer camps that charge extra for a longer day, yet also do an ‘optional’ event at the end of the week where you can see the kids perform or whatever, and then you to take them home early… No more. No more.

I paid $80 extra so I could work a full 40 hours this week, but I’m now putting in a leave slip to ditch work 2 hours early to watch my kid sing or something for 5 minutes and then come home. Perfect.

AITA because i don't want to see my kid display all the cool stuff she's learned, i just want you to watch her for the allotted times so i can try to keep my job.

@bikepedantic NTA. Summer camps and other childcare solutions don't seem to acknowledge the reality that working parents work until later in the day. It was frustrating when I needed a solution and discovered almost every time that extended day options only went until 2 or 3pm. The presumption for too many seemed to be that there are 2 parents and one of them doesn't work and is available at random times through out the day/week. Thankfully I'm past needing that but it was so frustrating.

@bikepedantic The best are the summer camps that are 9-3, no after care, send lunch, 2 'healthy' snacks, a swimsuit, a change of clothes, a towel, extra shoes, all natural bug spray, sun screen, art supplies, 3 extra copies of mandatory forms, signed photo release for social media, and optional monetary donations for the camp. no plastic packaging allowed; all trash will be sent home with you. Please make sure your child has pooped before they arrive each day.

@bikepedantic Nta. Summer childcare for under 12s a logistics and financial nightmare. They want to ditch early Friday so you have to as well?!?
