curious why more local planning departments don't get involved in vision zero plans?
I mean it's got 'plan' right there in the name. Why aren't planners taking a seat at the table? Why aren't we making ourselves relevant?
@bikepedantic @DrTCombs Well, this is the internet, so tell us all about it? =)
@bikepedantic
Do those thoughts involve wondering why planners aren't better, just in general?
@DrTCombs i think it's a more general, "i wish everyone were better." planners, esp land use planners, are just too focused on aethetics. Transportation generally is focused on band-aid countermeasures.
I did a long post on L!nked!n last year on the Hoboken example, and how there's many planning successes we should glorify there. I wish planning saw street safety as its mission too. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/darren-buck-17a78_hoboken-hasnt-had-a-traffic-death-in-4-years-activity-6950779850005639168-valP?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
@DrTCombs sorry for being so Dutch but are you saying that traffic safety plans are not made by traffic and land use planners? How would that ever work?
@DrTCombs hoo boy i have *thoughts* about this one
