I wasn’t really ready for just how much privacy you surrender in trying to carve out ongoing time away from work to deal with family health issues
@bikepedantic sorry, sounds like you have your priorities right
@CartyBoston thanks. it's a process
@bikepedantic So we could talk a bit about workplace culture (some places are better at protecting you) but that's a copout
It's (being an employee under) capitalism
@bikepedantic Been there, it sucks. And it gets even worse the further you go down the income spectrum. You don't want to know how much personal, private information you have to surrender to get public benefits. It's a rotten culture.
@ColesStreetPothole rotten to the core, absolutely
@bikepedantic Yeah, it sucks. Hugs (and privacy) to you and yours.
@bikepedantic RIGHT? I could write an essay on this. LMK if you want to talk about it with someone who has been through it recently.
Rich people problems, sure. But damn, I hate having to put my personal hit on display for everyone all the time.
