Good #CambMa news: Jivan Sobrinho-Wheeler declares candidacy for council, plans to “focus on making Cambridge a leader on issues including housing and child care affordability, sustainability, safe streets and transportation.”
@bikepedantic Jivan was great, very excited to see him back on the council. Hopefully he can take Mallon's seat
@DemonHusky I only moved here after the election, but i do remember Alanna recently praising him for his formative role in something big & good (parking minimums? AHO reform?).
Starting to think about my ranking... In pencil:
1. Azeem
2. Jivan
3. McGovern
4. Siddiqui
5. Zondervan
6. Toner
7. Simmons
8. Nolan
@DemonHusky Azeem took the lead on parking reform, and just feel like i gotta reward that.
McGovern is actually my sentimental favorite (he's good on everything, plus i'm friends/neighbors with his sister), but feel like he's very safe.
@DemonHusky @bikepedantic I think Toner is locked in this time, hopefully all of the anti-bike/transit people waste their resources supporting him.
@kinkema @DemonHusky someone whispered a rumor that Carlone wasn't running? that would certainly put them on defense
@bikepedantic @kinkema 2 open seats would be something. Jivan could probably get one of them. Would be interesting to see who else runs if there is so much open space.
@DemonHusky @kinkema i am both excited and terrified
@kinkema @bikepedantic If you assume Toner took Toomey's seat, Toomey was the last elected in 2019. So not much room for growth unless he siphons from someone else
@bikepedantic Azeem, Mallon, Toner, Zondervan were all elected in the last round of votes, with Jivan being the last out. McGovern and Carlone were elected in the second-last round.
I'd say that is probably the crowd that is most at-risk.
Basically pointless to vote for Siddiqui, she is a shoe-in unless something drastic happens.
