Alt text not working on my app lately. Pic above shows an SUV parked entirely on the sidewalk bordering a paver street with no raised curb separation

@bikepedantic There is a weird thing where drivers a loathe to block vehicular infrastructure, but are fine parking on the sidewalk, bike lane, crosswalk, etc. . .

I once asked a #UPS driver why he parked in the crosswalk instead of temporarily blocking the driveway of the house he was delivering to, and he said he wasn't allowed to block driveways. You're delivering a package to their house, I think they will understand. But apparently they are allowed to block crosswalks.

@bikepedantic I was working construction once (hauling tools to the job site). The road was wide enough for 4 lanes of cars, but it only had 2 car lanes and wide shoulders with no parking signs. Because of construction materials all over there were two choices to park the truck: the shoulder of the road or the sidewalks. The first day we parked on the shoulder of the road ignoring the no parking signs. While working I watched as many children used the sidewalk that day than cars used the road. Next day the cops came by and told us to move out cars off the road, so lacking any other choice we parked on the sidewalk which made the law happy.

In short, there isn't any place else you can park and not get in trouble.
