hey New England gardeners: Tell me your favorite perennials, or frankly any perennials besides hostas, that will grow in full shade
@bikepedantic my three favs: ferns, astilbe (comes in lots of colors and different bloom times), and bleeding heart.
@bikepedantic Columbine and wild geranium
@bikepedantic I've been trying (not very hard though) to find violets to try in my shady area, does that count as "favorite"? 😅
@bikepedantic did you hack my Google drive and get my garden list 😆 We have a 70 year old willow oak so it is full shade and dry because that thing sucks up water. Hellebores and false Solomon seal definitely work. We found astible likes more sun. We are trying partridge berry for ground cover. We have some coral bells in pots that seem to do ok for the summer (we move them to the front in winter).
@bikepedantic I haven't had much luck with bleeding hearts.
@bikepedantic@transportation.social If you don't have cats that will try to nibble, chives
@gemini oooohhh good one!
@bikepedantic Lily of the valley
@bikepedantic Also Solomon's seal, and probably martagon lilies.
@bikepedantic possibly useful, though some of these are more Midwest than east, technically: https://www.prairiemoon.com/seed-mixes-for-shady-area-prairie-moon-nursery.html I got my Mom this one: https://www.prairiemoon.com/eastern-shade-garden-kit
