Working in active transportation requires some optimism, that I already had in short supply before... I am really struggling to imagine a happy career future.

In the past month, Red Line travel times have gotten significantly better (Quincy Adams to Davis 75→60 min dashboard.transitmatters.org/r).

But the T hasn't adjusted schedules/operations, so northbound headways are uneven (15-3-15-3, rather than 9-9-9 dashboard.transitmatters.org/r, RIP Herman Cain), increasing average wait times north of Columbia.

Nor has the T used faster travel times to run more frequent service.

@linjari @bikepedantic With a 1000W motor this Ferla Lagom is technically not an eBike, but at 62lb and with a belt drive, it's another contender. ferlafamilybikes.com/products/

$4K for a Shimano mid-drive 20" cargo bike with quality components... Feel like the Yuba FastRack has gotten lost in the shuffle a bit yubabikes.com/cargobikestore/f

The Museum of Bad Art, inside Dorchester Brewing Company, is *absolutely* worth a visit.

Trying out this Pointz bike routing app, and really liking it!!! The breakdown of specific facility types on a given route is something really missing from many other apps.

They’re doing an ebike giveaway if you download it.

Also mentioned, a bill filed to study the incredible need for better public transit between Kendall and Longwood.

The newsletter author cites an astronomical 2.7M users of private shuttles serving Longwood, and expresses frustration that the public cannot access that service. Count me, who sadly had to make a metric shit-ton of trips between Cambridge and Longwood over the last year, among them.

Via the Globe's excellent Are We There Yet? newsletter, TIL that there's a bill in the MA legislature to study a red line extension to Arlington malegislature.gov/Bills/193/H3

I can’t believe that a retrospective on the launch of Citibike doesn’t mention Capital Bikeshare or Bixi.

<checks notes>

I’m sorry, shoulda said, here is a retrospective on the launch of Citibike, the first large-scale bikeshare system in North America.

Absolutely loved #Somerville Porch Fest yesterday, but we really need to get cars off our streets during the fest! I wonder if dedicated ride share pickup/drop-off locations could be established on less populated streets, and if we could get some of those electronic message boards set up at the entrance to town for the week leading up to it to warn people not to try to drive in Somerville during porch fest. Other ideas?

Already gotten three porchfest questions prompted by my tshirt, so much nerds

Also realized that March 2020 is finally over for me, but March 2023 is gonna march on for awhile

Here is my article about #Mastodon, the #Fediverse, and federalism for The Atlantic. I did NOT write the headline, which suggests the article is about Ben Franklin (never mentioned in the article) and Bluesky (mentioned a couple of times). LOL but I'm still really excited for you to read this!!! theatlantic.com/technology/arc

NEW VIDEO ALERT I'm excited to share this inspiring story of Austin's Dutch-Inspired cycle network as it was presented this morning at the Velo-City Conference by Chris Bruntlett w/ the Dutch Cycling Embassy

Latest DfT post-Covid demand recovery figures. Totals for motor vehicles & rail now around 100% of pre-Covid levels - equivalent to losing three years of the growth curve. Bus outside London is around 90%.
Always nuances within the totals, of course, such as weekdays v weekends, cars v freight traffic, journey purpose, school holidays... (1/)
